The results are in, and I'm allergic to everything, except for weeds. But ESPECIALLY TIMOTHY GRASS. The welt was over 11mm when they stopped it, and I still have an itchy welt two days later.

The new ones are the saddest news though, I'm now allergic to cats and dogs. Well, shit.

We're going to make some housework changes, try a new nasal antihistamine, and might even buy an air filter for the bedroom. Meanwhile I'm going to research allergy shots and any known data on autoimmune diseases. (My family has a huge history of them, I'm just waiting to pick mine up. Since allergies are your immune system going slightly nuts, I want to know what the odds are before I provoke some crazy reaction. My medical track record is just too weird to just jump in.)

But the pets stay.

Sorry - they're my babies, and we're keeping them. Besides it's not as if I choke up and wheeze or anything. So that's that news. Sleep results should be in on the 24th.

Let's hope there's something useful there.

I'm sorry to hear that, that's very unfortunate. I'm very lucky to have no allergies whatsoever, and I really apreciate that when I hear people complaining about pollen all summer.

GeekBoy, as you know, is allergic to cats and we have 5 of 'em. What helps is that none of them are allowed in his bedroom. I don't know if it's too late to convince your cats not to go in there (and train yourselves to shut the door) but it's worth a shot. (yeah, he still takes Claritin, though, but it's not as bad as it could be)

Good luck on the sleep results. I hope they find something that'll help significantly.

Sorry this happened to you. It sucks.

I went through a bad period of 1.5 years of my immune system being down before getting diagosed with allergies to most things including my dog plus asthma. Since then, I've gotten monthly allergy shots and I have to say, I love them. My asthma rarely requires medication because of them. Taking them cut way back on the number of respiratory infections I've had, and made me feel more energetic. I can completely tell when I've gone past the 5 week limit, because I get stuffy.

I tried the flonase (which didn't work) and other antihistamines available at the time, and I have to say the shots are WAY better, which I would have never guessed. At the time, I inwardly groaned over doing them instead of drugs. Since it sounds like your allergies are really bad, I would recommend trying the shots if they're considered safe for you. The allergist should have a good idea of reactions, but according to what I know, shots provoke far fewer reactions than the drugs.

Best of luck combating this problem!
