Heart of Spring, how the office liked it.

I came in with a piece of jewelry for everyone - and everyone was stunned at how 'perfect' they were for each person. Which made me all warm and fuzzy - I wanted them to all be very personal. I wore my "bobble" from [livejournal.com profile] rhienelleth along with my batik turtle scrubs.

On the food front in true Miles fashion I over did it, but we made a hell of a dent! After looking at in the cold light of morning - I thought I'd be bringing home a ton of food, but now I'm pretty sure that won't be the case.

I brought in a huge basket (thanks [livejournal.com profile] argentyne) with wheat grass in it and then put in a Godiva chocolate strawberry for each person, easter style Recess PB Cups, Nestle Crunch eggs, Harry & David's lovely Malt Balls and 5 different kind of solid chocolate bunnies and a couple of colored eggs. Then sprinkled edible flowers over everything.

A vegatable platter with peppers, celery and whole teenage carrots with Peppercorn Ranch Dressing and Peanut Butter.

A tray of Harry & David's Sampler of Cheesecake Petits Fours, Baklava and Fruit Galettes.

An Edible Arrangement which looks like this:

And a bottle each of Organic Sparkling Lemonaide, Orangina and Pelligrino.

Two vases of flowers, one wild and one tulips.

Other than some work based complications, who are always a pain in the ass, it was lovely. Everyone enjoyed themselves, and that was really the goal.

All of the food went over like gangbusters, and although I keep going in and having just one more piece - I think I may very well explode. The husband took pictures, so maybe some may make their way here. I'm sorry I didn't think of taking pictures once I got everything set up. I think his are of the fridge, which are pretty funny in their own right.

*Yawn* I'm full and need a nap now.

(LMAO one of our more erratic clients just came in and gave us a bunch of cookies they had baked for us to say thank you someone is going to have to roll us all out of here tonight.)

And for balance....

Here is the incredibly cute Wallaroo named "Jack" that came in for an appointment today.

Very cute, and pretty damn funny on Diazepam

He comes back on Friday. He hasn't reached his full size yet, as he's just a year old.

Two neat things about today…

We get our first fish patient today, a Betta fish. Should be most interesting I’m interested to see what the exam is like.

I also got my first real hands on bird experience. An owner dropped in with their 18 week old Moluccan Cockatoo, and we squeezed them in during other appointments. I went and gawked a bit, and then while I was out front suddenly A walks out and puts Lu Lu on my shoulder. *Surprise!*

Dude!

It’s my first intimate experience with a bird that is neither A) Wild nor B) Wants to Eat Me. I love the big birds, and the little ones are cute too. But here is this loving sweet thing sitting on my shoulder, just hanging out. Then she* finds my glasses. I get her to stop trying to steal my glasses, and she goes for my hair clip – which is fine. It’s big and plastic, and she isn’t likely to hurt it or herself. It’s interesting how warm and soft they are, and how little you can tell about what they are doing up there. And all you can see is (in this case salmon colored) feathers out of the corner of your eye. Then she settles for a minute and does the fluffy thing. Then we’re back to the glasses. Getting her distracted, she turns her head upside down and sees the earring. Instantly, that is much more interesting, and small enough for her to eat. So I’m getting her off my earring and J comes and says, “Here let me rescue you.” So off Lu Lu goes and I go back to work, birdless.

She was so cute.

And a great first experience I have to say.

*She, being pure speculation at this point. The blood test goes out tomorrow.

Two weekends....and a MONDAY

So work has kept me busy, and so have the weekends so I'll just point out the highlights:

A round of "Cursed" and the new joke of "Bock, Bock" (you so had to be there) with [livejournal.com profile] teardrop2000,[livejournal.com profile] twilight2000 and her crew.
A choppy but fun weekend visit from my cousins, K and M with C the adopted boi.
A much delayed visit to R.
Got a wild ride into an underground parking lot in [livejournal.com profile] trenchwench's side car (v. comfy!)
Had the worlds best hummus at Mediterranean Kitchen with [livejournal.com profile] trenchwench and much conversation.

The next weekend started out with

A lovely sudden meeting with [livejournal.com profile] xlana and her assorted family and relatives at the Country place. Had a decadent lunch at the Country Kitchen Cafe, then somehow lost all of the hours of the day wandering and geeking until someone pointed out it was 6. I was like, well, I guess that's Saturday.

And finished with

8 straight hours of silver polishing. My hands still smell like silver. It's a metal smell I used to like. Now I smell like fillings. All the time. Here's hoping it goes away soon, but it's one more step to completion on the house. A little more plastic wrap and finding all that silver a home and we're on to Art. *whoo-hoo*

This week at work started out with one hell of a bang. All of the computers were down on Saturday, so everything is a zoo, and was busy, busy, busy on top of it. And Dr.C won't even be back until Wednesday to round up her portion of the zoo. *Ugh* So today was wild and crazy, Dr K never got lunch, and K barely got hers -but because I'm the receptionist I got mine. I feel a little guilty.

Add to that I scheduled a 16ft, 100LB Albino Burmese Python for her yearly exam. Next Monday. She's named Isabell. Slow, perhaps, occasionally tedious, definitely, but boring? Nope. Not for a moment.

I have an odd job.
