Computer down....
Oct. 11th, 2006 10:00 amI've been without e-mail since Sunday night, so if you want to get a hold of me quickly, write the husband, or my hotmail account. I'll still be on and checking LJ at work and at the hubby's computer, so those are A-OK.
Apparently I'm going to have to install a floppy drive to get my computer to work again. Boy, does that blow - at least they are cheap (and it can't even be an external drive, what a bitch!)
(ETA: Basically there's been a problem with XP pro. It's lost a file that is required to start Windows, but when you insert the XP pro disk to repair it can't find my hard drives [which are working because the computer starts, and *it* recognizes it's hard drives] and needs to reload the drivers. Unfortunately XP pro will only upload from the A floppy drive, and an external floppy won't register since it would not appear as a drive, but a port. And, yes, we did try using the disk, no luck. *Growl* So,
sgoilear who keeps a floppy drive for just these occasions is making me a floppy disk of the drivers, while I go buy a floppy drive and install the damn thing for just these occasions. I'm hoping the instillation will not also require a long protracted phone call with
sgoilear I harass him enough as it is about computer problems. I think maybe next time we get to building a new computer, I'm going to have him show me how. And, yes as soon as I have a free day, I'm going to strip the damn computer and reload it all back. Ugh!)
See you all on the flip side, probably end of the week.
PS - Have I mentioned how much I hate this fucking interface?
